Bells

100_1064The Bell/Chime Choir meets Thursday evenings at 7:30. The “Ringers by the River” prepare for many services throughout the year and bi-annually attend a summer conference. With five octaves of bells and chimes, this choir is challenged with many stylistic playing techniques.

First Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg, PA is seeking a Part-Time Bell Choir Director. This is a compensated position, salary commensurate with qualifications. This person will direct weekly rehearsals and regular worship leadership by the Adult and Children’s Bell Choirs.  First Presbyterian has an outstanding, established music program.  We are a conservative, evangelical PCUSA church of more than 600 members.

Title: Hand bell Choir Director

Accountability: Direct report to Director of Music with accountability to Senior Pastor

Responsibilities:

  • Direct weekly rehearsals for Adult and Children’s Bell Choirs
  • Schedule inclusion in worship services (5-6 times/year, including Christmas Eve and Easter), concerts, festivals and special events
  • Recruitment and instruction of ringers
  • Budget oversight (music, supplies, repairs)
  • Music Selection
  • Instrument and Equipment Care

Qualifications:

  • Music Degree preferred
  • Previous Bell Choir Direction Experience Required
  • Encouraging, patient temperament
